We’re looking for a seasoned and passionate
Front-End Developer to join Digital Experience Team. As a Front-End Developer, you'll build out compelling experiences that benefit the 2 million residents of King County.
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated analytical skills, enjoy working collaboratively, a dedication to quality, and be up on the latest coding practices. They will also possess a deep knowledge of front-end languages and frameworks, as well as a an understanding of UX methods and deliverables.

Job Duties
- Build responsive, accessible user interfaces from UX designs, wireframes, and prototypes
- Partner with UX/UI designers to provide technical feedback and help refine design solutions
- Create reusable and scalable UI components aligned with County design standards and current front-end practices
- Develop front-end applications that integrate with backend services through APIs (REST or GraphQL)
- Participate in technical design discussions and contribute to solution documentation
- Collaborate with Agile product teams alongside designers, backend developers, and product owners
- Maintain and improve CI/CD workflows for building, testing, and deploying front-end applications
- Ensure applications meet accessibility (WCAG), performance, security, and cross-browser compatibility standards

Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills
- 7+ years of professional front-end development experience
- Deep expertise in HTML5, CSS3, SASS, and modern JavaScript (ES6+)
- Experience with modern JavaScript frameworks such as React or Angular
- Experience integrating REST or GraphQL APIs
- Strong understanding of responsive design and mobile-first development
- Experience working with Git-based version control and CI/CD workflows
- Knowledge of web accessibility standards (WCAG) and experience building accessible interfaces
- Experience working within Agile or iterative product development environments
Additional qualifications that are highly desired
- Experience working with Sitecore CMS
- Familiarity with C# and .NET environments
- Experience building or contributing to design systems or reusable component libraries (Storybook)
- Experience using AI-assisted development tools (Copilot, ChatGPT, Cursor)
- Experience with Node.js-based front-end tooling (npm, Yarn, Vite, Webpack)
- Experience working in government or public-sector digital services
Supplemental Information
Hybrid Work: KCIT works in a hybrid model, with days in the office as well as telecommuting. The ratio of remote to onsite work will be dependent on business needs and is subject to change. The primary onsite location is the
King Street Center, 201 S Jackson St, Seattle, WA 98104.
Employees must reside in Washington state and within a reasonable distance to their King County worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements.
King County has a robust collection of tools and resources to support working remotely. The individual selected for this opportunity will join an innovative and progressive team that is redefining how we work as we transition to the department's hybrid environment. Employees will be provided with a County-issued laptop and must maintain a home workspace with an internet connection where they can reliably perform work and remain available and responsive during scheduled work hours.

Work Schedule: The normal work week for this position is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. This position is FLSA Exempt and is not eligible for overtime pay.
