Job Summary
BNY is seeking a Angular Front End Developer to join the Equities Engineering team within the Execution Services Platform. This role focuses on designing and developing modern, high-performance user interfaces that support front office trading and operational workflows. This role is based in New York, NY with an onsite expectation of 4+ days per week.
The position plays a key role in transforming legacy mainframe-based systems into modern, scalable, UI-driven applications, leveraging Angular and advanced front-end technologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Front-End Development: Design, develop, and maintain responsive, high-performance user interfaces using Angular and modern JavaScript frameworks.
- Platform Modernization: Contribute to the migration of legacy mainframe systems into modern, UI-driven microservices architectures.
- UI Architecture & Design: Build scalable and reusable front-end components, leveraging tools such as AG-Grid for complex data visualization and grid-based interfaces.
- Full Stack Collaboration: Work closely with backend developers to integrate APIs and ensure seamless data flow between UI and server-side systems.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with product managers, traders, and business stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into intuitive UI solutions.
- Code Quality & Best Practices: Write clean, efficient, and testable code; participate in code reviews and enforce front-end development standards.
- Mentorship & Leadership: Mentor junior developers and provide technical guidance across UI development best practices.
- Production Support: Troubleshoot UI and integration issues in production environments and provide timely resolutions.
- Agile Development: Participate in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning and backlog refinement, to support iterative delivery.
- AI-Enabled Development: Utilize AI-assisted coding tools (e.g., Copilot, Windsurf, Cursor) to enhance productivity and code quality.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of front-end or full-stack software development experience
- Strong expertise in Angular and modern front-end technologies (JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML, CSS)
- Experience building complex, data-driven UIs (e.g., grids, dashboards, real-time interfaces)
- Experience working with RESTful APIs and web services
- Strong understanding of UI performance optimization and responsive design
- Familiarity with Java and Spring frameworks (highly desired for full-stack collaboration)
- Experience with SQL databases such as Oracle or SQL Server
- Familiarity with messaging technologies such as Kafka or MQ
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Git, and DevOps practices
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Bachelor’s degree required (Computer Science or related field)
- Experience in financial services, particularly equities or front office trading systems
Preferred Experience
- Understanding of equities trading lifecycle and trading platforms
- Experience modernizing legacy systems into UI-driven applications
- Familiarity with AG-Grid or similar advanced UI component libraries
- Experience with caching frameworks and FIX protocol
- Strong production support and debugging experience in high-pressure environments
- Exposure to AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Windsurf, Cursor)
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
